Curriculum Overview

The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum, which gives the children many excellent educational opportunities to develop as they move through the stages of their education.  As a school we firmly believe in the value of educating the whole child so that every child will feel competent and confident in the challenging world he/she will enter in later years. Our efforts at Raysfield will aim to develop all aspects of appropriate child development, which will include – academic, social, emotional, moral and physical growth.

Details of key areas of learning/subjects that your child will be taught in the current year can be found on the class pages. These are in line with the requirements of the new national curriculum.

When you open the first new curriculum document you will see that the areas of learning/subjects are contained within colour blocks around a central core area. The core area is English and the idea is that the objectives for the subjects are linked to the main English focus thus ensuring relevance and continuity across year groups and across the school.

The big blue arrow at the base details the school’s ‘key drivers’; these are areas that the school values and wishes to ensure remain at the heart of our children’s learning.

We hope that you find these links informative and if you have any questions please come and ask. Ways to help your child linked to this planned curriculum are detailed on your child’s class page and are called ‘How to Help’ sheets.
